UNIGLOBE is proud to support the Because I am a Girl campaign

For several years, UNIGLOBE franchise owners and agency partners have been actively raising funds to help Plan International address basic needs among children in impoverished countries and carry out emergency relief efforts.

Because I am a Girl is an initiative by Plan International to empower young girls and women to rise out of poverty and to contribute to the advancement of economies worldwide. UNIGLOBE Travel International is committed to raising awareness and funds for this campaign across our organization, which includes more than 750 locations in 50 countries worldwide.

"As travel industry leaders, it is important to us to help to raise awareness of programs that strengthen economies and create opportunities for young women to succeed," says UNIGLOBE Travel International President and Chief Operating Officer, Martin Charlwood.

A 2009 report titled Because I am a Girl: The State of the World's Girls revealed that girls in the world's poorest regions are among the most disadvantaged people on the planet. Girls are three times more likely to be malnourished and about 60 million girls are not attending primary school. The report concludes that, each year, struggling economies lose billions of dollars because they fail to invest in girls and young women.
